Dexter Memorial Day Parade

We had a fun day showing off our robot during the Dexter Memorial Day parade. We especially enjoyed crowd cheering and clapping for us along with the overheard comments from the crowd of:”Wow, did you see that?”, “It’s a robot!”, and “Can you believe the high school kids built that?!”.

April 27-30, 2016 – Sierra gives a tour of our robot to a couple of kids. They especially liked our ‘sucker-punch’. The girl, who has a sibling on our team, thought she hated robotics. Now she plans to join our robotics team.

April 13-16, 2016

Michigan District State Championship

Our team experienced a couple of big set backs that required hours of repair time. But, we still found time to inspire the next generation of FIRST. We love that we are able to have such a positive impact on our community.

April 13-16, 2016 – A young boy attended the Michigan State Championship Competition with his grandfather. Kathryn gave him the VIP tour. He loved watching our team compete, helping test our ‘sucker-punch’ and ‘driving’ our robot. Here you see Kathryn, Peter and Cade testing the sucker-punch with him. He is now looking into joining a robotics team of his own.

The Dreadbots had a great time inspiring the next generation of FIRST at a outreach at Cornerstone Elementary School’s Science Night. It was so much fun to see the kids eyes light up when seeing our robots. Here’s a few of our favorite moments that we captured.

Between matches we were able to give a few tours. Here’s one of our favorites.

Two youngsters get a tour of our robot in the pit
March 3-5, 2016 – Two kids that wanted to learn more about robotics and get a tour of our robot. So, of course Isaac and Dr. Sprague gave them a VIP tour. As they were leaving they said to their mom, “Robots are awesome! Can we see if they have a robotics team for us to join in Fenton?” A team member, Kathryn, took them over to the Fenton FRC pit to learn more. The results = Fenton does have a robotics team that they plan to join next year. We love when we can inspire the next generation of FIRST.
